SDGs Focal Persons and Consultants to ensure value for money

The Senior Special Assistant to the President on Sustainable Development Goals, Princess Adejoke Orelope-Adefulire, has asked that the SDGs State Focal Persons and the Consultants should work towards ensuring value for money in the implementation of SDGs projects and programme in order to enhance socio-economic development of the country and its citizens.

She gave the marching order while addressing participants at the meeting of the SDGs Focal Persons and/Monitoring Supervision and Data Collection Consultants in Abuja. She said the essence of the meeting is for the purpose of peer review mechanism which will enable participants compare notes. This will enable states across the Federation to be on the same page in the approach towards effective implementation of SDGs.

The SSAP-SDGs deplored the situation whereby MDGs projects and programmes were abandoned in some states; she therefore asked that the focal persons and consultants take note of them with the view that, OSSAP-SDGs could set modalities in motion to ensure that they are completed and put to use both at the States, Local Government and community level.

According to her the Conditional Grant Scheme of SDGs has come to stay and therefore, has to be maintained and enhanced to enable the Society have trust in government. “If we diligently carry out the responsibility of ensuring that SDGs is implemented in such a manner that the society and the citizen benefits immensely, posterity will remember us for good” she summed up.
