WAZIRI LAMINU, SECRETARY OF PROGRAMME, OFFICE OF THE SPECIAL ASSISTANT TO THE PRECIDENT ON SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT GOALs

Waziri Laminu, a seasoned public Servant, indigene of Kukawa Local Government Area of Borno State was born on the 6th of October, 1961.

He received his Bachelor degree in Arts (Education) from the University of Maiduguri in 1983 and a master of Arts from the same University in 1989. He also obtained a Diploma in Telecoms Management from the common wealth telecoms Organisation.

He was appointed secretary of programme in June, 2016. Prior to his appointment as the Secretary of Programme, Waziri Laminu served in various capacities in the Public service. Earlier in his career, he served as Graduate Assistant in the University of Maiduguri, rising to the level of research fellow, as well as coordinator, center for Research and documentation in trans sahara studies, University of Maiduguri (1990-1992). He was later appointed as a Director in the Borno state Civil service, a position he held until he joined the Federal Civil service in 1996.

He rose in his career in the Federal Civil Service until he was promoted to a Director in 2013. During the period 1996- 2016, Waziri Laminu served in various Ministries, such as Ministry of Aviation. Ministry of Defence, Federal Ministry of Communication Technology, Federal Ministry of Lands, Housing & Urban Development, Federal Ministry of Finance and Ministry of Youth Development.

He is a member of the institute of management, former national official of the Nigerian Association of oral History and tradition., secretary General of African studies Association Conference, Kartoum, sudan 1992, recipient of the Nigeria Union of journalist, Borno state charpter, Award for innovation in Public Service, Revenue and management in 1995, and the Nigerian Labour Congress, Abuja Charpter; Award for excellence (2006).

Waziri Laminu is married with children.
